The Deaf Museum will be established to record, preserve, and share the culture, history, and everyday lives of Deaf people. It is expected to serve as a place that presents sign language and identity as culture, while also promoting education, research, and inclusive exchange.
Because this remains a field with relatively few examples around the world, the museum will incorporate international knowledge and perspectives, while aiming to continue evolving with the times as a new kind of cultural institution.
Through this space, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with and experience a culture that is not yet widely known.
ろう博物館は、ろう者の豊かな文化・歴史・日常生活を記録・保存し、広く共有・継承するために作られます。手話やろう者のアイデンティティを文化として確立し、教育や研究への活用、そして社会的な理解とインクルーシブな交流を促進する場としての役割が期待されています。
しかし現在、世界的にも本格的なろう博物館はまだ少なく、その役割が十分に果たされているとは言えません。さらに、デフコミュニティのあり方は社会の変化とともに変化・分散しており、その文化や記録を体系的に残すことの重要性が高まっています。
こうした背景から、ろう文化を確実に未来へと継承していく拠点として、ろう博物館の必要性はますます高まっています。世界各国の知見を取り入れながら、時代とともに進化し続ける新たなろう博物館の確立が期待されています。 -
